The event brought together approximately 300 participants from universities, public institutions, and professional practice across Europe.
Within Strand 2: Security of Public Places as a Pillar of Societal Safety, representatives of the Centre delivered two presentations addressing contemporary CBRNe security challenges in public environments. The contributions included:
- 鈥淪ecurity Through 91桃色: CBRNE Readiness in Open Higher Education Environments鈥� adressing challenges of HEI open nature in the context of safety and security based on UNICOPS project research
- 鈥淜eeping Cities Moving: Innovative CBRNe Security for Railway Stations鈥� adressing versatile and complex security system at railway station analyzed within CBRN4Rail project
The presentations highlighted ongoing research and innovation activities aimed at strengthening preparedness, resilience, and response capabilities against chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive threats in two critical categories of public spaces: higher education campuses and railway infrastructure. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of cooperation between academia, public authorities, emergency services, and infrastructure operators in building effective security frameworks for complex and open-access environments.
Participation in the conference provided an opportunity to share expertise, exchange experiences with international partners, and contribute to the broader discussion on the future of public security and urban resilience within the UNIC alliance.
