“Interferenceâ€ combines contemporary music, independent music and sound art. By hosting the series at Biedermann’s Palace, the 91ÌÒÉ« opens its space to diverse forms of artistic expression and cooperation with the local cultural community. It is an invitation to bring together members of the academic community, artists and residents of Lodz. Shared listening and conversation create a platform for exchanging experiences, discovering new perspectives and building relationships through art. Just as overlapping waves create new structures, encounters between artistic experiences, ideas and sensitivities open up new possibilities for experiencing music. Each evening includes a concert and a conversation with the artist, led by a person involved in music and sound culture. It is also an opportunity to ask questions, engage in open discussion and gain a closer insight into creative practices.
On Wednesday, 4 November at 7 p.m., an encounter with a sound installation by Paweł Kulczyński will begin. Paweł Kulczyński is a musician, experimenter, creator of installations and composer of theatre music. The artist employs complex methods of sound synthesis, composition and spatial sound projection. His interests include the social and spatial aspects of music, acoustics and the role of chance in the creative process. His electronic avant-garde music emerges at the intersection of genres, eluding simple classification. Paweł Kulczyński has performed at festivals including Unsound, Sacrum Profanum, CTM Berlin, Primavera Sound and Gwangju Biennale. He also leads workshops and sound walks.
Following the concert, the conversation with the artist will be led by Daniel Muzyczuk, an art historian, art critic and curator whose interests encompass the relationships between visual arts, experimental music and sound culture. He is the author of the book “Zmierzch magów [Twilight of the Magicians] and was the curator of the exhibition in the Polish Pavilion at the 55th International Art Exhibition in Venice.
