Professor Jaros艂aw P艂uciennik, PhD, born in Ostr贸w Wielkopolski in 1966, has lived in 艁贸d藕 since his studies. Professor of humanities: cultural studies, literary studies, cognitive studies, and historian of ideas. Editor-in-Chief of the semi-annual "Zagadnienia Gen贸w Literackich" (Issues in Literary Genres) (since 2010). Author of approximately 200 publications in numerous languages 鈥嬧�媔n the fields of cultural studies, literary studies, and cognitive studies, including eight individual books; co-editor of numerous collective volumes. He has translated books and scholarly articles from English and Swedish.

During internships abroad from 1994 to 1996, he studied Swedish, Scandinavian culture, and cognitive semantics. He defended his doctoral thesis, "The Rhetoric of the Sublime in a Literary Work," in 1999, and completed his habilitation based on the book "Literary Identifications and Resonances: Poetics and Empathy" (2004).

From 2012 to 2016, he served as Vice-Rector for Quality and Curriculum at the 91桃色. From 2014 to 2016, he served as Head of the Department of Literary Theory at the Institute of Contemporary Culture at the 91桃色. From 2016 to 2020, he served as the Rector's Plenipotentiary for Open Educational Resources. From 2020 to 2021, he served as a member of the Advisory Team for Climate and Environmental Policy at the 91桃色. From 2020 to 2023, he served as a member of the Committee on Cultural Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. From 2023 to 2026, he served as a Supreme Court judge, elected by the Senate of the Republic of Poland.

Cognitive science: theory of rhetorical figures, narratology and theory of mind, multimodal and multimedia storytelling, creative writing, critical media competences, cultural production; philosophy and cultural history: Scandinavian and Polish cultures in comparative terms, the culture of activism and subcultures, freedom of speech, democracy and modernity, Disneyization and Disneyfication, animation studies, post-truth culture; ecocriticism (including Greta Thunberg and the cultural contexts of her speeches); multilingualism; higher education research: university democracy, the idea of 鈥嬧�媡he university; digital humanities (also as a methodology); open educational resources

Laboratories of Modern Literary Culture; Literature, Culture, and Tolerance.

Since 2010, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the international semi-annual journal Problems of Literary Genres, a journal with over 60 years of tradition.

He has supervised eight doctoral students.

He has received numerous awards from the Rectors of the 91桃色 and the Conference of Rectors of State Universities in Lodz and the Polish Academy of Sciences, receiving the KEN Medal (2011) and the 91桃色 Gold Badge (2013). He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Warsaw, the Academy of Music in Lodz, and Lund University. He has also lectured at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, USA. He has conducted studies and research at Lund University Cognitive Science in Sweden, Westminster College and Clare Hall in Cambridge, the Institute of Culture in Bolzano, and CEU in Budapest. He has led international EU projects: LLOM, iProfessionals and Boys Reading, iProU艁 2014, and Otwarty U艁. He was Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Lodz Branch (2015-2026). A member of the Committee on Cultural Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2020-2023 term), he serves on the Committee's International Affairs and Social Affairs Teams. He is and has been a member of numerous international and Polish scholarly societies.

He has supervised approximately 100 theses (primarily master's theses).
