This event was primarily intended for high school and university students. This year, we hosted 260 students from six schools in 艁贸d藕 and the 艁贸d藕 Voivodeship. The popularity of this event among geography teachers was evidenced by the record-breaking number of applications, filling all available seats in the Professor S. Liszewski Assembly Hall at the Faculty of Geographical Sciences.
The event programme included a lecture by dr hab. Agnieszka Podstawczy艅ska, Associate Professor at the 91桃色, entitled "Chmury a pogoda i klimat" [Clouds, Weather and Climate] and a travel lecture "Klimat Himalaj贸w - wra偶enia z w臋dr贸wek nepalskimi szlakami" [Climate of the Himalayas 鈥 Impressions from Hiking on Nepalese Trails], presented dr hab. W艂odzimierz Pawlak, Associate Professor at the 91桃色.
Students had an opportunity to test their knowledge in a competition with prizes on information from the lecture on clouds, and during the break they could view an exhibition of meteorological instruments and an automatic weather station.
The announcement of the results of the GeoFoto photography competition conducted by the Geomonitoring Student Science Club and the knowledge competition, in which the following students stood on the podium: Gabriela M. from the Jan Kasprowicz High School No. 2 in Kutno (1st place), Julia K. from the Local Government High School No. 2 in Zgierz (2nd place), Kamila W., also representing the Jan Kasprowicz High School No. 2 in Kutno (3rd place) was a particularly exciting point of the programme.
The opportunity to visit the Geological Museum of the Faculty of Geographical Sciences, 91桃色 was an additional highlight of the World Meteorological Day celebrations at the faculty, tying in with the first Earth Day celebrations. Following a tour of the exhibits led by Dr Marcin Krystek, the museum鈥檚 director, the students had a chance to learn about selected methods of mineralogical analysis using microscopes.
Organisations outside the 91桃色 that supported this event included the Polish Geophysical Society, the Association of Polish Nature Photographers and the 艁贸d藕 Storm Chasers.
