Conference “The Role of ASEAN in the Indo‑Pacific Region: Security, Economy, Culture” at the UniLodz Faculty of International and Political Studies

On 29 April 2026, the Faculty of International and Political Studies of the 91ɫ will host the conference “The Role of ASEAN in the Indo‑Pacific Region: Security, Economy, Culture”, organised on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and 91ɫ in Southeast Asia (TAC). The event is being prepared in cooperation with the Boym Institute and the Embassy of Indonesia in Warsaw.

The conference will also welcome ambassadors from ASEAN member states, who will share diplomatic perspectives on ASEAN’s role in the Indo‑Pacific and its importance for contemporary political, economic, and cultural processes.

The event will take place in the Council Hall of the Faculty of International and Political Studies (Narutowicza 59a, Łódź).

Session I: Security and Geopolitics

(10:30–12:30)

The first session will focus on key geopolitical and security challenges in the Indo‑Pacific region. The planned presentations include:

Session II: Internal Politics and Economy

(13:30–15:30)

The second session will address political and economic issues within the ASEAN region. The programme includes:

  • Jakub JessaASEAN and Natural Disasters: An Overview of the Evolution of Regional Crisis Response Mechanisms

The conference will conclude at 15:45. The event will provide an excellent opportunity to engage with experts and diplomats and to deepen understanding of ASEAN’s role in the rapidly evolving Indo‑Pacific region.
