Where do you currently work and what do you do?

I work at Scope Fluidics, a Polish venture studio operating in the MedTech sector. On a daily basis, I coordinate projects at a very early stage of development. This means working from the very beginning, from identifying a significant clinical problem, through discussions with physicians representing various specialisations, to creating a product roadmap and cooperating with strategic partners.

I also coordinate the Scope Fluidics Fellowship, a three-month programme aimed at Master鈥檚 graduates, doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers who want to turn scientific knowledge into an idea for a new start-up.

What knowledge and skills acquired during your studies have proved useful in your professional career?

Microbiology taught me to think precisely about biological problems and to exercise caution when drawing conclusions. This approach remains extremely useful to me today, especially when discussing diagnostic needs with clinicians or evaluating research and technology projects.

Looking back, I particularly appreciate skills that may have seemed less exciting during my studies, such as conducting a thorough analysis of scientific literature, designing experiments, processing data and communicating results clearly and concisely.

What advice would you give to students who are just beginning their studies at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection?

Do not wait until you receive your degree to start building experience. While still studying, it is worth looking for internships, getting involved in research projects and reaching out to laboratories, companies and individuals whose work simply interests you. The worst answer you can receive is 鈥渘o鈥, and quite often a single message can open the door to truly fascinating opportunities.

What advice would you give to Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection graduates entering the job market?

Do not rely solely on the knowledge gained during your studies. It is essential, but it may not be sufficient on its own. Employers鈥 expectations are increasing and the job market is becoming increasingly competitive, so it is worth taking every opportunity to develop your skills and strengthen your CV. This may include Erasmus exchanges, additional courses, weekend training programmes, internships or scientific volunteering.

Also invest in communication and networking skills. Relationships are incredibly valuable and can open many doors, often at the least expected moment. Do not be afraid to talk to people, ask questions and seek advice. Many people are very willing to share their experience; you simply need to take the first step.

Would you share an interesting memory or anecdote from your time as a student at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection?

I nearly got expelled from university because of Physical Chemistry. A few years later, I completed a PhD in exactly that field!
