The 91ÌÒÉ« received the 2026 LGBT+ Diamonds Awards distinction in the Employer of the Year category. The distinction was awarded during the awards gala held on 28 April of the current year.

This is a special moment for UniLodz – for the first time in the competition's history, a university has been recognised. We view this as recognition for our consistent work in building an environment where safety, equal treatment, attentiveness to people's needs and responsibility for the academic community are of particular importance.

We are very grateful for this distinction. It is particularly important to us because the 91ÌÒÉ« – the Humane University, as we refer to it in our community – is the first university to be recognised in this competition. We believe that the role of a university does not end with education. It also has to shape attitudes, instill values and demonstrate that knowledge, responsibility and openness go hand in hand

– said the Rector of the 91ÌÒÉ« during the gala.

The 91ÌÒÉ« is made up of thousands of employees, students, researchers, teachers, and those supporting academic development. As an employer and a public institution, we want to respond to the real needs of this community – not just through declarations but through specific actions that strengthen a culture of mutual respect.

We want the 91ÌÒÉ« to be more than just an institution – a community. A place where everyone can feel safe and treated with respect. This award is a confirmation for us that listening is what we should stick to. The actions we have implemented are a response to the voices, needs and experiences of our community

– underlined the Rector.

Activities conducted at UniLodz include initiatives related to psychological support, accessibility, counteracting discrimination and strengthening a culture of equal treatment. Since 2017, we have held the HR Excellence in Research distinction and last year we were also among the employers highly rated in the Diversity IN Check survey.

We consider this distinction a reward for listening and truly hearing what those employed at the 91ÌÒÉ« need: respect, safety and equal treatment

– added the Rector.

Recognition at the reinforces the direction UniLodz has been developing for years: building a university that is responsible, open and attentive to the people who contribute to it.
