The EUROREG Seminars are a series of open academic meetings during which lectures are presented by theorists and practitioners involved in regional and local development. These lectures are accompanied by discussions with the audience concerning the topics addressed in the presentations. The EUROREG Seminars have a long tradition, having been organised in this format since the mid-1970s.
This time, dr hab. Aleksandra Nowakowska, Associate Professor at the 91桃色, from the Department of Regional Economics and Environment, was the guest of the Seminar. Her lecture focused on the question of why some cities and regions successfully initiate development processes, while others, despite similar conditions, remain on the periphery of development. Prof. Nowakowska proposed seeking answers to this question within the territorial development paradigm. To this end, she presented an understanding of the concepts of territory, territorial capital, and territorial governance, as well as the relationships between them. The discussion concerned, among other things, the practical possibilities of applying the territorial development paradigm in national and European contexts.
The abstract of the lecture and the Author鈥檚 presentation are available on (in Polish).
