August marks the peak activity of the Perseid meteor shower, which delights thousands of night sky enthusiasts every year. During a single hour, observers may spot dozens of bright meteors streaking across the sky. Although they are commonly referred to as 鈥渟hooting stars鈥�, they are in fact tiny particles of cosmic matter entering the Earth's atmosphere and burning up at altitudes of several dozen kilometres above the ground.
During the event, this fascinating phenomenon will be presented by mgr Joanna 艢lot from the Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics at the 91桃色, who will introduce participants to the mysteries of meteors, explain the origins of the Perseids and offer practical tips on how to make the most of night sky observations.
We encourage participants to bring a blanket or a deck chair to sit back comfortably beneath the stars and fully enjoy this unique evening.
