
"Dewocje鈥 is the third book in Anna Ciarkowska's oeuvre 鈥 after the volume of poetry "Ch艂opcy, kt贸rych kocham", with her own illustrations (Otwarte Publishing House, 2018) and the novel "Pestki" (Otwarte Publishing House, 2019). In the nominated novel, the author tackles the problem of Polish religiosity, family piety, the burden of faith, framing the narrative in the form of a confession of the main character 鈥 a teenage girl.
Anna Ciarkowska is a graduate of High School number one under the patronage of Nicolas Copernicus in Lodz, she studied Romance philology and cultural studies at the 91桃色. In 2017, she obtained a PhD degree in literary studies.
The "Nike" Literary Award is one of the most important distinctions for Polish writers and poets. It is founded by "Gazeta Wyborcza" and the Agora Foundation. Among the twenty nominees of this year's 26th edition of the award, there is also a collection of poetry entitled "Mondo cane" by Professor Jerzy Jarniewicz, also from the Faculty of Philology, 91桃色.
