"COTUTELLE" Doctoral Student Project Competition

Justus Liebig University of Giessen and 91桃色 invite you to take part in the 鈥淐OTUTELLE鈥 doctoral student project competition. Framework topic: Cultures and languages at the borders from an interdisciplinary perspective.

The competition is open to doctoral students wishing to carry out their doctoral dissertation in the 鈥渃otutelle鈥 in the following disciplines: linguistics, cultural studies, literary studies, art studies.

We offer:

  • an international doctorate pursued simultaneously at two universities: Justus Liebieg University of Gie脽en and 91桃色;
  • a one-year internship at the Justus Liebieg University in Gie脽en;
  • mobility allowance of EUR 1,000 for 12 months, paid by JLU Gie脽en;
  • assistance in finding a financially favourable place of residence.

Requirements:

  • framework topic of the dissertation, as proposed by the candidate, should be adjusted to the subject matter of the Project announced;
  • knowledge of languages: English at B2 level and one of two languages: German or Polish at min. B1 (confirmed by a certificate or a relevant philology degree).

Documents required from candidates in the competition:

  • degree certificate(s) and academic transcript(s) of undergraduate and graduate degrees, a direct Master鈥檚 degree or its equivalent (an official copy, or alternatively, a certified true copy signed by UL staff);
  • competition application form (hereinafter Application) being the Attachment to the present Rules;
  • outline of the doctoral dissertation written in one of three languages: Polish, English or German;
  • information on scientific and research activities as well as popularisation, social and organisational activities;
  • certificate (photocopy; show original for verification) or other document (with a degree/diploma, can be a photocopy if original for verification is shown; with attestation letter, original is required) testifying English language skills at B2 level (CEFR) and German or Polish language skills at B1 level or higher.

In the case of a candidate who lacks documentation of language skills, it shall be possible to hold an interview verifying the proficiency level, held by specialists from the 91桃色 Faculty of Philology and/or JLU Giessen.
