About the speaker
Tomislav Ivankovi膰 graduated in Molecular Biology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Zagreb. He earned his PhD in 2012 with a thesis on the immobilisation of bacteria on mineral supports; since then, his research has focused on bacterial biofilms.
Having completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Universit茅 Grenoble-Alpes, where he focused on imaging bacterial biofilms using X-ray microtomography, he joined the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Sciences in Zagreb, where he currently holds the position of an Associate Professor.
Prof. Ivankovi膰 teaches general microbiology, bioremediation and wastewater treatment technologies. His research interests include bacterial biofilms, environmental biotechnology, bioremediation and antibiotic resistance in the environment. Collaboration between Prof. Ivankovi膰's group and the Department of Immunology and Infection Biology, 91桃色 began in 2022 and has since developed into several UNIC Science Hub projects and other joint initiatives. We hope that this open seminar will expand this cooperation and engage academics from across the faculty.
