During the training, participants had the opportunity to review the most important threats that may occur in an academic environment. The officers presented procedures to be followed in selected crisis situations, with particular emphasis on terrorist threats. Considerable attention was also given to evacuation procedures, possibilities for self-defence and the conditions that must be met for an action to qualify as self-defence.
The exchange of experiences between university staff and police officers was also an important part of the meeting. Discussions covered both everyday challenges related to safety in public spaces and the specific nature of a large academic community, in which an increasing proportion is made up of international students and staff.
The training forms part of a broader cooperation programme implemented by the Faculty of Philology of the 91桃色 and the Lodz Municipal Police Headquarters. As part of the TEAM UP project, police officers participate in classes developing communication skills, including effective communication in English and proven methods of interacting with individuals who have limited proficiency in Polish. At the same time, police representatives conduct educational activities addressed to the academic community.
This meeting is one of several planned for staff and students of the Faculty of Philology, aimed at increasing knowledge about safety and preparing participants to respond appropriately in emergency situations. The next training session for staff of the Faculty of Philology is scheduled for the end of June.
