The event is a continuation of long-standing Polish-German cooperation in the field of culture and translation and also refers to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Karl Dedecius – an outstanding translator, promoter of Polish literature in Germany and a patron of numerous scientific initiatives.
Conference Themes
The organisers propose three main areas of reflection:
- The legacy of Karl Dedecius – his role in building a cultural community between Poland and Germany and the relevance of his message in the context of contemporary intercultural relations.
- Literary Translation – interdisciplinary approaches to Dedecius's work, contemporary trends in translation research and transformations in translation strategies, also in the context of the development of AI tools.
- Disseminating knowledge about Polish-German relations – modern methods of popularising Dedecius’s achievements, teaching and educational projects developing intercultural competences.
The conference will be held in Częstochowa 0n 8 – 10 October 2026, and is organised by:

As the organisers received a grant from the Polish-German Foundation for Science, the conference fee was waived.
