Description of the event
The conference, entitled "Central Europe in the History – The Year 1846 in Poland in the Light of the European Press" provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge and reflection on the significance of the events of 1846 in the broader European media and historical context. The meeting will bring together researchers who specialise in the history of Central Europe and the analysis of press coverage as historical sources.

Organisational information
The conference will be held on 14-15 May 2026 at the Faculty Council room of the Institute of History. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. The conference will be conducted in Polish and English, with simultaneous translation provided.

The project Context
The conference is organised as part of a project of the same name, implemented by the 91ÌÒÉ« in partnership with the University of Pardubice and the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The project is co-financed by the governments of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from the International Visegrad Fund. The fund's mission is to promote ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
