During her speech, Prof. Beata Guziejewska highlighted the growing importance of fiscal decentralisation as a foundation for the efficient operation of local governments. She also underlined the crucial role of empirical research, which allows for accurate diagnosis of problems and the design of effective solutions for public finance management at the local and regional levels. The Oxford Debate, in which Prof. Beata Guziejewska acted as a judge, assessing the participants' arguments and the substantive level of the discussions was another important element of the event. This debate was a key part of the programme, which engaged the event participants and emphasised the importance of open dialogue within the academic community.
The conference, organised to celebrate the anniversaries of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics and the Pozna艅 University of Economics and Business, was one of the most important academic events devoted to local government finance in recent times.
