Welcoming the conference guests, the Rector of the University of Silesia, Prof. Ryszard Kozio艂ek, underlined the importance of cooperation between universities, citing the alliance of seven Katowice universities that jointly implemented the European City of Science KATOWICE 2024 initiative as an example. It should be mentioned that our university has also been cooperating and implementing joint projects with five other public universities in Lodz for two years, creating the Lodz Academic Partnership.
During the KRUP meeting, the rectors reviewed the KRUP commission reports for 2025, discussed cooperation with the Polish Accreditation Commission and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. They also discussed the challenges facing universities in the coming years. Among the topics, the issue of financing research and recruiting foreign citizens remains a recurring theme.
The meeting will continue with a discussion and vote on the establishment of the Administration Committee and the adoption of the KRUP financial plan for 2026.
