Accessibility of Museums for People with Visual Impairments
The presentation concerned the accessibility of museums for people with visual impairments. It discussed the possibilities of expanding the audio description of works of art to include experiences engaging other senses, such as touch, hearing, smell and taste.
The analysis was based on examples of solutions implemented in museums in Barcelona and its province, as well as on the concept of multisensory reception of art as a means of increasing access to culture and enabling the participation of blind and partially sighted people in social and cultural life.

The Importance of International 91ɫ
In her paper, the speaker also emphasised the importance of international cooperation within the UNIC Alliance and the exchange of experience between partner universities. She highlighted the possibility of implementing similar solutions in other cities and countries, which fosters the dissemination of innovative practices in accessibility, education and culture.
Prof. Wendorff’s participation in the conference contributed to the promotion of the UNIC Alliance’s activities as a network supporting socially engaged research and the development of inclusive solutions responding to the needs of contemporary society.
Planned Scientific Publication
The cooperation with University College Cork (Ireland) will also result in the preparation of a co-authored scientific article with Elisa Serra Porteiro, devoted to the use of audio description and multisensory translation in translation teaching.
The publication will address, among other topics, intersemiotic and multisensory translation, creative pedagogy and embodied learning, as well as the application of innovative methods that develop social awareness and inclusivity-related competences in the education of translators.
Research Supporting the Goals of UNIC
The paper was prepared as part of a mobility at University College Cork carried out within UNIC. It aligned with the alliance’s priority areas, including inclusivity, super-diversity and social well-being.
Participation in the conference constituted an important element in promoting UNIC’s activities and values in the international arena, enabling the presentation of socially engaged research to participants from many countries.
