Academic campus (Dormitories) of the 91桃色 is known in Lodz as Lumumbowo. The name stems from the address, as the first UniLodz dormitories were located at Lumumby Street, in a charming and green part of the city. Lumumbowo is located at the tram terminal (in the language of Lodz 鈥渒ra艅c贸wka鈥�) from which you can easily get to the main buildings of the 91桃色 in the city. Some faculties are located in the direct neighbourhood of the dormitories.

Rules for applying for a place in student dormitories

GENERAL PROVISIONS

1. A place in a dormitory is granted for the duration of full-time/part-time BA, MA, doctoral studies or Uniform Master's Studies.

2. A person who has been granted a place in a student dormitory has the right to live there from 1 October to the last day of the summer examination session specified in the Regulation on the division of the academic year.

3. Before starting the next level of studies, the procedure for granting a place in a dormitory starts from the beginning.

RULES FOR APPLYING FOR A PLACE IN A DORMITORY FOR THE FIRST TIME

1. Priority in obtaining a place in a dormitory is given to full-time students whose daily commute to the university would prevent or significantly hinder their studies.

2. When allocating places in a dormitory, the 91桃色 Committee for Student Dormitories takes into account the age of applicants for a place in a dormitory and may also take into account other relevant criteria such as:

a) distance from the place of residence,
b) full-time student status,
c) special circumstances: e.g., orphanhood, disability,
d) documented chronic illness,
e) residence of the spouse in a given dormitory,
f) the fact of continuing education,
g) other circumstances specified by the 91桃色 Committee for Student Dormitories.

RESERVING A PLACE AT THE UNIVERITY OF LODZ DORMITORY (deadline, method, and place for submitting an application)

1. To retain their place for the next academic year, students/doctoral school participants are required to register their application in the USOSWEB system. Details regarding the deadlines, method and place of submitting applications are specified in a separate announcement published each year on the 91桃色 website in the News section. (go to the DORMITORIES tab)

2. A student who has been granted a reserved place in a dormitory has the right to live there from 1 October until the last day of the summer examination session specified in the Regulation on the division of the academic year.

3. Only a person who has resided there for at least 2 months before the end of the term (i.e. until 30 April) can reserve a place in a given dormitory for the next academic year.

4. In the event of failure to meet the condition specified in point 3, the procedure specified in the rules for applying for a place in a dormitory 鈥� for the first time 鈥� shall apply.

A DORMITORY SWAP

1. A student/doctoral student who wishes to exchange their current dormitory for another one must complete an application for a dormitory swap, which is provided as Appendix 4 鈥� go to STUDENT CAMPUS 鈥� DOCUMENT DATABASE.

2. If a dormitory swap request is denied due to a lack of vacancies, the application mentioned in paragraph 1 can only be reconsidered at two consecutive meetings of the 91桃色 Committee for Student Dormitories.

3. A student/doctoral student who is granted a dormitory swap must relocate within 7 days of the Committee鈥檚 decision.

A PLACE IN A DORMITORY FOR THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS PERIOD

1. Students may extend their stay in student dormitories during the summer break (i.e., from 1 July to 20 September of a given calendar year) by submitting an application for a place in a student dormitory for the summer break via USOSweb.

2. Priority in allocating places in student dormitories for the summer break is given to students residing in a given dormitory during the academic year.

3. The extension of accommodation until 30 September 2025 applies only to students continuing their studies and who have been allocated a place in a student dormitory for the next academic year.

RULES FOR APPLYING FOR A ROOM FOR A MARRIED COUPLE

1. The 91桃色 students 鈥� persons of the opposite sex who wish to live together in a double room must submit a statement of their intention to live together to the manager of the relevant dormitory.

Written consent from roommates is also required in the case of living in a shared segment 鈥� GO TO THE DOCUMENT DATABASE.

RULES FOR APPLYING FOR A SINGLE ROOM

1. The Rector, after obtaining the opinion of the 91桃色 Committee for Student Dormitories, may grant a single room to:

a) students with a valid disability certificate (a copy of the valid disability certificate must be provided), 
b) students holding a current certificate from a specialist doctor confirming the necessity for long-term medical treatment or the presence of a chronic illness that requires specific living conditions
c) other students in exceptionally justified cases.

2. The template of the application referred to in point 1 is attached as Appendix 7 (GO TO THE DOCUMENT DATABASE) to the Regulations for the allocation and use of places in the 91桃色 student dormitory. This is a supplementary application, which is submitted together with the application for reservation/allocation of a place. The application and accompanying documents are submitted electronically via Usoweb, and after the electronic rounds are completed, a paper version of the application is delivered to the Student Campus, Lumumby 1, 91-404 艁贸d藕.

RULES FOR APPLYING FOR A ROOM FOR A STUDENT WITH A CHILD
  1. The Rector, after obtaining the opinion of the 91桃色 Committee for Student Dormitories, may allocate a place in a room to a student with a child to:

a) a student raising a child alone (a photocopy of the child's abbreviated birth
certificate must be provided),
b) a married couple (a photocopy of the child's abbreviated birth certificate must be provided).

    2. The template for the application referred to in point 1 is attached as Appendix 6 (GO TO THE DOCUMENT DATABASE) to the REGULATIONS FOR THE ALLOCATION AND USE OF PLACES IN THE 91桃色 DORMITORY. The application and accompanying documents should be submitted via Usosweb or at the Student Campus (after the electronic rounds have ended).

WHO CAN TRY TO GET A PLACE IN A STUDENT DORMITORY AND HOW TO DO IT?

Students of the first-cycle, second-cycle and doctoral studies can apply for a place in the UL dormitories. Once you have been admitted a place you can use it till obtaining a specific scientific degree, unless you decide to change the room or the dormitory earlier. 

Remember that the priority in applying for granting a place in a dormitory is given to people from full-time studies, for whom the distance from their place of residence makes it difficult to travel to the University every day.

HOW MUCH WILL I PAY FOR A DORMITORY?

Prices of beds/rooms in the UL dormitories are lower than the market prices for renting apartments. This is yet another argument that convinces students to choose Lumumbowo. A monthly cost of rental is from PLN 370 to PLN 820 and depends on a specific dormitory, and on how many people you share your room with. 

 

WHEN CAN I MOVE INTO A DORMITORY?

You can live in a dormitory of the University of Lodz from October 1 to the last day of the summer examination session. 

 

 

CAN I STAY IN A DORMITORY FOR A PERIOD OF HOLIDAYS?

If you want to stay in the dormitory for a period of holidays (1.07-30.09), you need to submit a relevant application until 15 June. Remember that the priority in applying for granting a place in a dormitory for a period of holidays is given to people who lived in the dorm during the academic year.

CAN I LIVE IN A DORMITORY WITH MY WIFE/HUSBAND?

Yes, you can; however first you need to contact the manager of a given UL dormitory and submit a declaration of willingness to live together. If you are to share your room with other residents, you must obtain their consent in writing.

 

CAN I LIVE IN A DORMITORY WITH MY CHILD?

Yes, you can. The Rector can agree for that after issuing an opinion on the application (previously submitted to COSiD-SB 鈥� Service Centre for Students and PhD Candidates). A student who brings up a child on his/her own or a married couple with a child can live in a dormitory. In both cases you will need a photocopy of the abbreviated birth certificate of the child. 

 

 

CAN I LIVE IN A SINGLE ROOM?

Yes, you can. The Rector may grant permission to live in a single room for students who have a valid certificate of disability, a valid certificate from a specialist doctor, which confirms a long-term treatment, a chronic disease and the need to live in certain conditions. The consent is also issued in other exceptional circumstances. The application for a single room has to be submitted to COSiD-SB 鈥� Service Centre for Students and PhD Candidates. 

 

WHAT RULES APPLY IN THE UL DORMITORIES?


Once you become a resident of the UL Dormitory you need to follow several basic rules, which can be found in the RULES OF ALLOCATION AND USE OF HOUSING IN THE 91桃色 DORMITORIES, available here [LINK]  

Please pay attention to the fact that due to Covid-19 pandemic the 91桃色 applies special precautions. Therefore, throughout the whole period of pandemic in the UL dormitories special sanitary regime applies, which you have to follow strictly, even though in Poland some restrictions have already removed. Our priority is to ensure safety for both students and dormitory employees.

Please remember that the following rules apply at the UL dorms: 

  1. The Dormitory Reception has the right to check every entry and going out of its residents. They can ask you why you are leaving the building, where you are going and when you will be back. They can also check if you are coming back at the declared time.  Each time it happens, you will have an obligation to write the time of your entering and leaving the dormitory.
  2. You can leave the UL dormitory for one or more nights after having it previously agreed on with the dormitory manager. In case of not arranging it with the manager you will lose your place. Your personal belongings will be packed and placed in a safe place.
  3. No people from the outside of the UL dormitory or residents of other dormitories are allowed on the premises of the dorm.
  4. The dormitory is closed at 11 p.m. (23:00).
  5. TV rooms and gyms are closed.
  6. Face masks should be worn every time you leave your room: in all areas of common use (e.g., corridors, laundry rooms, reception desk area).
  7. At a time, there can be only one person in the common kitchen.
  8. There is a ban on gathering of residents on the corridors.  

Violation of the above rules will result in the removal from the UL dormitory. Please remember that these restrictions are introduced for the safety of both: you 鈥� students, as well as dormitory administration. If you don鈥檛 agree with the rules, please consider another place of residence.   

In case of continuation of an epidemic threat, the 91桃色 reserves the right to keep the above listed rules in the new academic year.

I AM AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT / I STUDY IN THE POLISH LANGUAGE CENTRE FOR FOREIGNERS. CAN I STAY IN A DORMITORY?

Yes, you can. If you are planning to come to the 91桃色 under a student exchange programme, you can apply for a place in a dormitory of the UL during registration. The principle of admitting places in a dormitory is, as follows: those who properly finish the registration process first, are higher up on the list of those entitled to accommodation. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that every student will get a place.

The standard of guest rooms at the 91桃色 Dormitories varies depending on the specific residence.

  • Location: Most dormitories are located in the heart of 艁贸d藕, in the famous "Lumumbowo" student campus, close to the city centre, Manufaktura shopping centre and major transportation hubs.
  • Room Types: Single, double, and triple rooms predominate. Dormitories no 10, 11, 13, and 14 feature studio-style rooms.
  • Bathrooms: In most dormitories, bathrooms and toilets are located in the room. Studio rooms share a bathroom and kitchenette.
  • Amenities: Rooms are furnished (beds, desks, chairs, wardrobes, bedding).
  • Kitchens: Shared kitchens for self-catering are located on each floor or in designated areas.
  • Additional Amenities: Most dormitories offer Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, drying rooms and study rooms.
  • Price (in 2025/2026): Guest fees start at approximately PLN 75鈥�136 per person per night, and for monthly stays, from PLN 665鈥�1330 per person. Accommodation fees for the 91桃色 dormitory depend on the room type, dormitory type and length of stay.
  • The hotel day is counted from 12:00 noon to 11:00 a.m. the following day. The reception desk is open 24 hours a day, so check-in is also possible late in the evening.
  • How to make a reservation? - Availability inquiries and reservations are accepted via email only. To do this, download the pre-booking form from the Dormitories website (go to: document database) and email it to: noclegids@uni.lodz.pl
