Science Inspires. Explaining the World
Behind every scientific study stands a person. Someone who asks questions, seeks answers, tests ideas, challenges assumptions and tries again. Sometimes it is a professor, sometimes a doctor or a doctoral student, but it can just as easily be an undergraduate or postgraduate student taking their first steps in the world of research. The 鈥瀖gr in偶. Prof. dr hab. 芦Science People禄" campaign showcases members of the UniLodz community who use research to better understand the world and seek answers to questions that matter to us all. Because science does not end with theory. It touches upon health, safety, artificial intelligence, climate, housing, relationships and many other issues that shape our everyday lives.
We present 15 research areas pursued across 12 faculties of the 91桃色. We selected them not because they sound scientific, but because they concern the world we live in. They demonstrate how research conducted at the University influences health, safety, the functioning of cities, the development of new technologies and environmental protection.
The posters feature specific faces. Each of them, however, is part of a much larger story. Behind every portrait stands a group of people at different stages of their academic careers, as well as experts representing various disciplines and perspectives.
The campaign slogans deliberately challenge the stereotypical image of a scientist. 鈥淭he Memory Woman鈥, 鈥淭he AI Guy鈥, 鈥淭he Fighting Problems Woman鈥, 鈥淭he Drug Detection Guy鈥, 鈥淭he Space Guy鈥 sound more like social media profiles than captions beneath scientific publications. Because behind every academic title stands a person with their own curiosity, passion, experience and field they wish to understand more deeply.
At UniLodz, students take part in research projects, work in research teams, pursue their own initiatives and gain experience that may become the beginning of an academic or professional career. That is why the sequence 鈥淏Sc Eng, MSc, PhD, DSc, Professor鈥 is intentionally included in the campaign title. It reflects successive stages of an academic journey and reminds us that becoming a researcher can begin much earlier than academic titles might suggest.
Throughout November 2026, the campaign can be seen at 55 selected public transport stops across 艁贸d藕. A promotional video for the campaign is displayed on MPK buses and trams, as well as on 艁贸dzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna trains. From November to January, the campaign will also be present in selected arthouse cinemas in 艁贸d藕 and the region, as well as on digital screens in UniLodz buildings.
The stories of our researchers are further developed through popular science articles, podcasts, video content and social media channels.
